White House Chief Digital Officer Ory Rinat will depart the administration this month to start a new technology company.
Axios reported Rinat, who has been with the White House since 2017, played a key role in developing the administration’s digital strategy and policy.
During his tenure he helped build out various digital assets, including WhiteHouse.gov. He also was responsible for the White House’s social media handles and the Coronavirus.gov website, according to Axios.
Rinat had previously spearheaded digital strategy for The Heritage Foundation. Before joining Heritage he helped launch Atlantic Media Strategies.
Axios said his departure is amicable and was sparked by his desire to start a new company. The new firm will be based in Washington, D.C., and will power a technology platform for performance-based influencer and affiliate marketing, Axios said.
