KKK Billboard Promotes 'White Pride Radio' in Arkansas Town

By    |   Wednesday, 31 December 2014 08:47 PM EST

A billboard in Harrison, Arkansas that proclaims, "It's NOT Racist to (Heart) Your People" is advertising an online "white pride" radio station, the Harrison Daily Times reports.

The billboard went up on Monday and features a picture of a young Caucasian girl holding a puppy. The picture is a stock photo from the website Dreamstime.com, which features other images of the girl and the miniature pinscher.

The bottom of the billboard reads www.WhitePrideRadio.com and "Harrison – Love Lives Here."

The website redirects to www.kkkradio.com.

Thom Robb, national director of The Knights Party, admitted to the newspaper, "Yes, that's us," when asked if his group was behind the billboard.

The station's website features a lineup of talk hosts and old-time radio shows, including "Amos and Andy," which featured white performers as black characters. Other shows include "This is the Klan" and "The White Side."

The website says the programs "are free of race mixing themes and the exploits of homosexuals —  the kind of entertainment that is popular on television today —  even on so-called 'family' networks like ABC Family."

The children's program "Stories from Grandma" is described as containing "racially sound stories they will love."

BuzzFeed reports
that the racially charged billboard is nothing new in Harrison, where the Klan reportedly has a mailing address.

In October 2013, a billboard was erected in the town reading "Anti-Racist is a Code Word for Anti-White." No one claimed that sign, but another billboard below it featured a picture of a white family and read, "Welcome to Harrison. Beautiful Town. Beautiful People. No Wrong Exits. No Bad Neighborhoods." That sign claimed to be put up by "Harrison Area Business Owners."

According the the 2010 Census, Harrison had a population of just under 13,000 and is 96.2 percent white, 0.3 percent black, 0.7 percent American Indian, 1.6 percent mixed race and 2.2 percent Hispanic.

The billboards came down after their leases expired, and Claude West, owner of Harrison Signs, told the Harrison Daily Times he no longer leases signs unless they contain contact information.

The Harrison Community Task Force on Race Relations has attempted to promote racial healing, but is mocked on a white pride website, www.harrisonar.net.

"The Harrison Task Force on Race Relations, and the rest of their ilk who proudly crowed about running the racists out, better think twice," a story on the website read.
