A group of white high school students in Utah are being investigated by the local school district for chanting racial slurs and vulgarities in a video posted on social media, The Salt Lake Tribune reported Tuesday.
The teens are juniors and seniors at Weber High School, said Weber School District spokesman Lane Findlay, and three of them participate on the school's cheerleading team. The 10-second video was reportedly filmed last year during the school's fall break and posted on one of the girl's Instagram accounts.
In it, the girls take turns saying, "F– n––" while laughing. The post is titled "serggin cuff," which said backwards is a racial slur.
"Right now the focus is on the investigation and trying to answer all the questions that have come up," Findlay said.
The girls could be expelled, Findlay said.
"Obviously they knew what they were doing; it's just completely inappropriate," he said.
The girls, according to the district, are all "very apologetic for their actions."
