President Donald Trump revealed to his supporters this week that the United Kingdom’s Queen Elizabeth II made him wait before their meeting, denying reports that he made her wait.
Trump, who went to the UK in July for his first official visit, said at a rally in Pennsylvania on Thursday that contrary to reports, he arrived to his meeting with the queen about 15 minutes early and had to wait.
"I landed and I’m on the ground and I’m waiting with the king’s and the queen’s guards," Trump said, according to Politico. "I’m waiting. I was about 15 minutes early and I’m waiting with my wife and that’s fine. Hey, it’s the queen, right? We can wait. But I’m a little early."
He added that the meeting was supposed to take 15 minutes, but ended up lasting "like an hour" because they "got along."
Trump then claimed to have "a better relationship" with leaders in Euopre "than any other president has had."
He then lashed out at the news media for reporting that he had kept the queen waiting after running late, according to the Telegraph.
"And then here's the rest of the story. So they said I was late when I was actually early, number one. Number two, I guess the meeting was scheduled for 15 minutes and it lasted for almost an hour… So I was late and I overstayed. And honestly folks, it was such a beautiful, beautiful visit, but they can make anything bad because they are the fake, fake disgusting news."
