The driver of a press van that was part of a motorcade was detained outside of the president's Mar-a-Lago resort by law enforcement for having a personal firearm in his baggage, The Hill reports.
The gun, which the driver said he forgot to take out and leave in his personal vehicle, was found during a routine sweep of bags belonging to press and staff before entering the grounds of President Donald Trump's Florida getaway, The Hill reported.
It all happened across the street, off resort grounds, about an hour before the motorcade would join the presidential motorcade on the way to Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach, where Trump played for the first time all weekend out of respect for the victims killed in last week's school massacre 40 miles south of Mar-a-Lago.
White House staffers drove all of the press vans onto the Mar-a-Lago property as a result.
The driver, an outside contractor, did not appear to be under arrest, The Hill reports.
