Forty-six percent of Americans approve of the job President Donald Trump is doing, and 55 percent think the economy will be in better shape a year from now, down from 56 percent who felt that way last December, according to a Fox News Poll released Wednesday.
Trump also got positive marks on the way he is handling the economy, with 50 percent saying they approve of the job he is doing compared with 43 percent who do not.
On the president's handling of border security, 46 percent approve, 49 percent disapprove. On immigration it is 43-53 percent. Trump also got poor marks on healthcare – 33 percent approve, 56 percent do not approve.
On the Russia probe, 48 percent think Trump coordinated with the Russians in the 2016 presidential election, while 37 percent believe there was no coordination, but 51 percent doubt special counsel Robert Mueller will find the president committed impeachable or criminal offenses.
Democratic pollster Chris Anderson, who conducts the Fox News poll with Republican Daron Shaw, said Trump's "job approval will be severely challenged next year.
"Mueller's investigation is more popular than the president, while the circle of voters believing Trump's campaign didn't coordinate with Russia is shrinking," Anderson said. "Then there is the increasing economic uncertainty and Democrats assuming control of the House. Saying 2019 will be a test for Donald Trump would be an understatement."
