Speaker Nancy Pelosi is one of the few national figures to have their favorability ratings improve since the 2018 midterm elections, pollster Nancy Zdunkewicz told The Hill's "What America's Thinking" on Monday.

Zdunkewicz, who is managing editor at Democracy Corps, said that "One thing that has been interesting is to watch how Nancy Pelosi's favorability numbers have changed . . . Now [that] she's even more so in front of cameras, and part of the discussion about what's going on the country."

In an average of the five most recent polls taken, Pelosi's net favorability rose 3 percentage points compared to where she was before the government shutdown, CNN reported.

This compares to, according to an average of all recent polls, President Donald Trump's net approval rating dropping 6 percentage points compared to before the shutdown.

Pelosi was a central figure in the shutdown fight between Democrats and the president as she fought to keep the party unified in opposing Trump's demand for $5.7 billion in funding for his proposed wall along the southern border.

On Friday, Trump agreed to reopen the government, after the longest shutdown in the country’s history, for three weeks without receiving any money for the border wall.
