Unknown Substance Sickens People at Florida Planned Parenthood

Monday, 23 May 2016 12:30 PM EDT

An unknown substance made people ill at a Planned Parenthood building in Sarasota, Florida, Monday, forcing the evacuation of dozens of people, police said.

About 38 people were inside the building and at least six were transported for evaluation while others were decontaminated at the scene, officials said on social media.

"At this time, it's unknown what substance has made people ill," Sarasota police said in a statement posted on Facebook.

People inside the building reported having shortness of breath, NBC affiliate WFLA reported.

A local school was put on lockdown but the children were safe, the Facebook statement said.
