A Pittsburgh man told police his roommate bit part of his ear off after the two got into an argument about President Donald Trump's immigration policies.
Salatiel Marcos Ortiz, 30, said he and his roommate — who was not named in the report — began a heated discussion about Trump around 2:30 a.m. Monday. Both men are from Mexico, and the roommate allegedly attacked Ortiz by biting off a piece of his right ear and breaking one of his fingers.
Ortiz told police he left their shared apartment and called authorities from a nearby gas station, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Police arrived on the scene at 6:45 a.m.
Police recovered the chuck of ear and surgeons were able to reattach it.
Ortiz said his roommate, who police are still searching for, had been drinking before the altercation.
"Anytime he is drinking beer, he is going crazy," Ortiz told the Gazette.
