Arguing about Donald Trump winning the presidential election has apparently torn the country apart to such an extent that a United Airlines pilot had to urge people to keep their political views to themselves after a dispute broke out ahead of an international flight, The Washington Post reported.
Footage posted to YouTube shows the pilot addressing passengers over the intercom after an argument erupted over politics on board the flight, which was getting ready to take off from San Francisco to Puerta Vallarta, Mexico.
"We're gonna be in a metal tube at 35,000 feet," the pilot announced. "I understand everybody has their opinions, that's fine. If you support him, great. If you don't, I understand. However, we're out here to go to Puerta Vallarta to have a good time. … Let's keep our opinions to ourselves on this particular matter at this particular time. Let cooler heads prevail and we can talk and realize that we're all human beings, and we all can stick together and we can all feel for this country in our own way and that's what we should do."
The pilot then ended his remarks with a warning, which was followed by applause from the passengers. "If there's anybody that has a problem with this… there's another flight tomorrow," he announced. "You're not gonna be on this one. I hope that's clear."
The Huffington Post reported that the argument was also racial in nature as a female black passenger began to cry when she was confronted by an apparent Donald Trump supporter.
