One always felt as if they were "in the presence of God" when near the Rev. Billy Graham, President Donald Trump's longtime spiritual adviser Paula White said Wednesday, after news broke that the evangelist had died at the age of 99.
"We felt like we were in the presence of God with Billy Graham," said White, senior pastor of the New Destiny Christian Center in Apopka, Florida, told Fox News' "Fox & Friends."
"It oozed out of him. He was such a strong man, a mighty man. A man of faith. A man of integrity."
White said she had had the opportunity to meet the late pastor and that she has gotten to know some of his family.
She said that with Graham's passing, "we do know that all of heaven and all the angels are rejoicing," while people he left behind grieve his loss.
White also noted that about 10 years ago, a Tulane Study about how faith plays a role in society, Graham was recognized as "America's pastor."
"He was the voice," she said. "He lived as that voice. He simply lived out his faith according to the word of God. That is so important."
For several decades, beginning with the late President Harry Truman, Graham served as a counselor to the nation's presidents.
