Obama's Uncle Loses License After DUI

By    |   Tuesday, 27 March 2012 03:27 PM EDT

Onyango Obama, President Barack Obama’s illegal alien uncle, was ordered to surrender his driver’s license on Tuesday after he admitted driving drunk, reports The Boston Herald.

A district court judge in Framingham, Mass.,  told the 67-year-old to turn over his license for 45 days following his admission today of sufficient facts in his DUI arrest. He also placed Obama on probation for a year.

Obama had been vigorously fighting his case since he was pulled over by Framingham police for driving erratically on Aug. 24.  His attorney Scott Bratton, however, said it’s now time for Obama to “get on with his life.”

“After a thorough review, we felt it was in his interests to end the matter without any further proceedings. He’s glad to have this behind him,” Bratton said.

Middlesex District Attorney Gerard  Leone, Jr. said that Obama has accepted responsibility for his actions by admitting to "the essence of the crime" and has been held accountable.

The DA said Obama nearly hit a police cruiser. When he was pulled over only his speech was slurred, “his eyes were red and glassy and there was an odor of alcohol coming from inside the motor vehicle.” His blood alcohol level registered at 0.14 on a Breathalyzer — almost twice the legal limit.

Bratton said Obama’s illegal alien status was caused by his failure to “renew immigration paperwork,” saying that he expects the issue to be resolved.

Obama has been in the United States illegally for 20 years. He has returned to work at a liquor store in Framingham.
