President Barack Obama should have known based on common sense that the attack at the American Embassy in Benghazi, Libya was a coordinated effort, according to former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Giuliani, in Boca Raton, Fla. for the final presidential debate, told CNN's Soledad O'Brien during her "Starting Point" program that Obama should have used “common sense” and realized the U.S. consulate in Libya was attacked in a coordinated manner, and not part of a spontaneous assault.
"The president should have known based on common sense that an attack like that, an attack in which you're using rocket propelled hand grenades, in which mortars are used . . . Now all the sudden you get an attack on September 11 and you're scratching your head about it?"
He continued: "If it wasn't a cover-up, then the ineptitude of this administration is startling."
The anchor then asked the feisty former mayor if his assessment was "unfair" because he was expecting the administration to come to a conclusion of events halfway around the world in a matter of two weeks, Giuliani exclaimed: "We're going to blame this on Bush, too?"
O’Brien rushed in at that point and said: "You got to stop putting words in my mouth, sir," she said. "Seriously, hang on. Let me finish."
Giuliani stood his ground and said he believed the Obama administration was trying to deflect blame for a lack of effort to prevent the attack and also the slow realization the attack was anything but spontaneous and not a protest run amok because of a movie some accused of being anti-Islamic.
