The Flint, Michigan, water crisis could have been avoided, says New York City Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Emily Lloyd, adding that there's no danger it would happen in her city.

"Flint, Michigan was foreseeable and avoidable," Lloyd said Sunday on "The Cats Roundtable" on AM 970 in New York. "It's impossible for me to imagine a situation where … we wouldn’t have flagged this problem and been required to get on it right away," she told host John Catsimatidis.

Flint's water has been contaminated with lead after the state decided to switch its water supply from Detroit to the Flint River to save money. The state has since switch back to Detroit, but the corrosion of old pipes that started the lead contamination has not been stopped.
