Former President Barack Obama shared a message for 2019 on Twitter as he wished everyone a Happy New Year.
"In 2018 people stepped up and showed up like never before," Obama tweeted. "Keep it up in 2019. We've got a lot of work to do, and I'll be right there with you. Happy New Year, everybody!"
The tweet followed up a few stories Obama had shared on Twitter over the weekend about young leaders who had inspired him during the past year, as The Hill reported.
The former president finished those series of stories with an overall message in a concluding tweet.
"I hope you find inspiration in the stories of Dejah, Moussa, Sandor, Hong, and Jonny," Obama wrote. "Their journeys began with a decision to build the better future they wanted to see. The same is true for you. What matters isn't the size of the step you take; what matters is that you take it."
