New Jersey Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno is ripping Gov. Christie Christie for his beach outing over the weekend.
"If I were governor, I sure wouldn't be sitting on the beach if taxpayers didn't have access to state beaches," she said Monday in a statement posted on Facebook.
And she added: "It's beyond words."
Photos of Christie and his family sunning themselves on the empty beach that had been ordered closed because of a state government shutdown have provoked widespread ridicule, The New York Times reported.
The newspaper said Christie's outing came as police turned away those who arrived at the beach looking to spend the day by the ocean.
Meanwhile, Preet Bharara, the former U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, took to Twitter to rib Christie for going to the beach. Bharara used their mutual love for Bruce Springsteen to jab the governor, The Hill noted.
