Multiple Deaths Confirmed at Scene of New Jersey Mansion Fire

Multiple fatalities have been confirmed at the scene of a mansion fire in Colts Neck, New Jersey, with at least one person found shot dead, NBC New York reports.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office confirmed in a tweet that authorities are “on scene at a fire in Colts Neck with multiple fatalities. Firefighters still working on fire. Stay tuned for more details.”

Law enforcement sources told NBC that one adult was found shot to death outside a mansion on Willow Brook Road in Colts Neck after a fire began around 1:30 Tuesday afternoon. Another adult and two children were found dead inside the house, according to ABC 7 NY.

Sources also confirmed that a second fire occurred at the home of the brother of one of the mansion’s residents in Ocean Township. None of the deceased have been identified. The residents of that home were able to evacuate safely, and investigators found multiple gas cans inside the house. Law enforcement is investigating whether the fires are connected, and if the Colts Neck fire was caused by arson.
