House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, R-Calif., on Tuesday sent out a tweet saying the offer still stands for the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors to visit the U.S. Capitol.
President Donald Trump last week uninvited star player Steph Curry from visiting the White House after Curry said he would vote no when the team sat down to decide whether they would attend.
Visiting the president in Washington, D.C. is customary for American championship teams and dates back to at least 1865 when President Andrew Johnson welcomed the Brooklyn Athletics and Washington Nationals amateur baseball clubs.
After Trump said Curry was no longer invited, the Warriors announced they, too, wouldn't meet with the president and instead, "constructively use our trip to the nation's capital in February to celebrate equality, diversity and inclusion — the values that we embrace as an organization."
Pelosi said to consider her invitation open for "whenever your individual schedules allow."
