Mike Lindell, founder and CEO of My Pillow, a lifelong resident of Minnesota, told Newsmax TV, he believes it is time for his home state to end its shutdown and open up.
"We want to get Minnesota open and our governor needs to know," Lindell told Tuesday's "The Chris Salcedo Show." "If you wait too long, you're going to have massive revolting, where people are going to come out anyway."
Lindell, one of the most recognizable faces on television thanks to his My Pillow commercials, believes if businesses are allowed to open, they will open with "safe practices" because customers will insist on it.
He favors a "governor's seal" approach, where businesses would have a seal on the outside listing the proper safe practices the business undertakes, such as standing six feet apart, wearing masks and gloves, and using hand sanitizer.
"Business owners are responsible for themselves," Lindell added to host Chris Salcedo. "If they're not doing that, social media will eat them up. I can go into one gas station and it's like nothing's happened. I go to another one, and its all safe practices. Guess where I go? I go to the one that's practicing safe practices."
He does not favor waiting on the availability of more tests before opening businesses up.
"I don't believe testing works," he said. "You run everybody in Minnesota through testing and they catch it two days later? That's not even practical."
Lindell mentioned his new book, "What are the Odds: From Crack Addict to CEO," now available on Amazon.
"Everybody's buying it, because it's the perfect time to give people hope, no matter how bad things get," Lindell, who has been in recovery since 2009 and operates the Lindell Foundation to help addicts, said. "You keep the faith, and with God, all things are possible."
