“How do you get Barack (Obama) to believe he’s in charge?” asked radio personality Anele Mdoda of Michelle Obama during her recent trip to Africa, reports
Mail & Guardian
Mdoda was among 74 other African women chosen by their respective U.S. embassies to attend the photo opportunity with the first lady.
“A good man is happy with a strong woman,” Michelle replied, after a hearty chuckle.
“That’s why I fell in love with Barack. I met him way before he was president and he was just so comfortable with himself and he accepted me with all my . . . stuff.”
The dialogue took place at the Apartheid Museum near Soweto, Africa, and lasted nearly 10 minutes. The first lady was reportedly over an hour late, but greeted the women with the announcement “I want to hug you all!” followed by some words of wisdom:
“Exercise. And that’s the one thing I want to encourage you all to do: look after yourself. So often women put everyone else first and ourselves fourth or fifth on the list. Like our men — we always put them at number one,” she laughed.
