Meghan McCain: No Middle Ground in 'Quarantining Forever, Girls Gone Wild'

Meghan McCain slammed partiers seen in viral videos over the holiday weekend, saying there should be some sensible middle ground to opening the economy and not an all-out "Girls Gone Wild."

On Tuesday's episode of "The View," which she co-hosts, McCain noted she has pushed for a slow open of the economy, but said the video of people packed tightly together at a pool/bar area at Missouri's Lake of the Ozarks resort show shows how some people have no regard for the health and safety of others.

"I have been advocating given all the reasons — suicide rates are spiking, opioid overdoses," McCain said. "Obviously the economy is completely collapsing."

But, she added, "I think I'm just confused as to why I've been advocating for a slow roll open of the economy if we aren't going to have some kind of in-between between completely isolating, quarantining forever and 'Girls Gone Wild.'"

She said she has friends who have lost family members to COVID-19, and has herself remained "completely isolated and quarantined" during her pregnancy.

"All I want to do by August is be able to buy a crib for my baby in a store and visit my father's grave," the daughter of the late Sen. John McCain said. "That's all I want to do before the fall, and to see people sort of, like, rubbing their nose at all the sacrifices of our first responders, and there's still so much unknown about this virus."

McCain noted, instances of people ignoring advice to practice social distancing and wear masks is "happening everywhere. It's a red state, blue state problem."
