A nationwide recall for vegetable listeria affects brands from some major stores including Walmart, Safeway/Albertson’s, Aldi, Trader Joe’s and H-E-B, the Miami Herald reports.
Mann Packing of Salinas, California, on Thursday announced a recall of fresh-cut vegetable products because of a positive result of Listeria monocytogenes bacteria, which can cause fatal food poisoning in young children, pregnant women and elderly or frail people.
Over 20 vegetable products were affected and the products were distributed through the United States and Canada with “best if used by” dates from October 11 to October 20.
H-E-B, an American privately held supermarket chain based in San Antonio, Texas, with more than 350 stores throughout Texas and northeast Mexico, had 13 items on the recall list. Walmart had eight.
