Lara Trump told actor, ex-wrestler Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson Monday to "pull on his big-boy pants" if he wants to run for president against her father-in-law in 2020.
"I will tell him it's not as easy as it looks," she said in an interview with Maria Bartiromo on the Fox Business Network. "I will tell the Rock to get ready, strap on his big boy pants. 'They're coming after you. They will come after your family.'"
Johnson, the 6-foot-5, 260-pound star of the "Fast and Furious" movie franchise, teased reporters over the weekend when asked if he would be a candidate against President Donald Trump. He responded that he liked the sound of the "people's president."
However, Lara Trump warned him that his fans might not like his dabbling in politics.
"The second you get involved in politics — no matter what side you're on — half of the country loves you and half the country hates you," she said. "I would tell the Rock, 'Seriously, seriously think about this.' "
She added that the Trump re-election campaign is in full swing with rallies, fundraisers and updates on social media.
"We are fundraising like crazy for 2020," she said. "We want to go into 2020 knowing that we have a war chest, that we have a ton of money to make sure the president is re-elected."
Lara Trump added that, at this point, the Democrats present little challenge.
"The Democrats right now do not look great," she said. "They seem to be a little bit of a floundering party."
