Charles and David Koch, the billionaire brothers who are major benefactors to conservative causes, have donated $500,000 to Heritage Action, an advocacy group affiliated with The Heritage Foundation think tank.

The group's CEO,  Mike Needham, revealed the contribution at a Christian Science Monitor breakfast Wednesday, Politico reports.

Heritage Action is backing the Republican faction that insists on defunding Obamacare regardless of the ramifications.

While Koch Cos. has criticized Obamacare, but hasn't advocated linking defunding to a government spending bill.

"Koch has not taken a position on the legislative tact of tying the continuing resolution to defunding Obamacare nor have we lobbied on legislative provisions defunding Obamacare," Philip Ellender, president of government and public affairs at Koch, wrote in a letter to senators Wednesday, according to Politico.

"Instead, Koch has focused on educating the public about reducing our nation’s debt and controlling runaway government spending."
