Still coping with the fallout from the bitter presidential campaign, children are writing letters asking President-elect Donald Trump to be kind.
The idea for the letters came from Molly Spence Sahebjami, a Seattle mother who started a Facebook group called "Dear President Trump: Letters from Kids About Kindness," according to The Washington Post.
Sahebjami says she knew many who were opposed to Trump's use of vulgarity.
Kids "don't know anything about the issues, like manufacturing jobs," she told The Post. "But they know — at least where I live, it's really prevalent (for children) to say, 'Oh, he's the mean one.'"
Sahebjami told the newspaper she decided to start the group, which now has over 9,000 members, after her kindergarten son became concerned about what Trump had said about Muslims since the family has relatives of Iranian descent.
The little boy's letter, which he dictated to her, read: "Dear President-elect Trump, please be a good president. Be kind to all people. Some people are a special religion and they are not bad guys."
