Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, tested negative for COVID-19, and won’t have to quarantine after traveling with President Donald Trump earlier in the week, the lawmaker’s spokesman said Friday.

The House Judiciary Committee member was tested Friday as a precaution after he flew on Air Force One with Trump en route to Tuesday’s debate in Cleveland, Russell Dye, spokesman for the congressman, told the Journal-News

"Today Ranking Member Jim Jordan, R-Ohio,  tested negative for COVID-19. Mr. Jordan has been advised by his physician that since he was not in close contact with any COVID-19 positive people during a risk time period, he does not have to quarantine. Today’s test was taken as a precaution and Mr. Jordan looks forward to continuing to work hard for the people of Ohio’s Fourth District,” the spokesman said in a statement tweeted by the House Judiciary Committee.

Fellow Rep. Mike Turner, R-Ohio, was re-tested for coronavirus Friday morning after he was with the president on Monday. His results were also negative, his spokesperson told the Journal-News.

Trump announced Friday he and First Lady Melania Trump tested positive for COVID-19. That announcement came shortly after news that Trump’s aide Hope Hicks had tested positive, and that the president and First Lady had been in close contact with her.
