Republicans’ activism against out-of-control public unions is spreading. In Florida, State Sen.
John Thrasher, former state GOP chairman, has introduced a bill that would ban public unions from deducting or collecting dues that would be used for political purposes, the Saint Petersburg Times reports.
"Deductions may not be made for purposes of political activity, including contributions to a candidate, political party, political committee,” the bill reads.
“A public employer may not deduct or collect the dues, uniform assessments, fines, penalties, or special assessments of an employee organization from the compensation of any person employed by the public employer," the bill continues.
Furthermore, any public employee who didn't specifically permit the use of his/her money for political purposes could have a refund coming, the bill says.
