Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel decided to get semi-serious during his monologue Thursday night and address the anti-vaccination movement, which has taken heat after the recent measles outbreak.

"Here in LA, there are schools in which 20 percent of the students aren't vaccinated because parents here are more scared of gluten than smallpox," Kimmel said on his ABC show "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

Kimmel admitted that anti-vaccine people aren't going to take advice from a talk show host, but he said he would expect people to take medical advice from "almost every doctor in the world," because "they didn't learn about the human body from their friends' Facebook page."

He specifically mentioned actress and former Playboy Playmate Jenny McCarthy, who has campaigned against mandatory vaccines, saying they are linked to autism. The medical community said the studies that suggested the link have seen been discredited.

"If you are one of those people who knows more than doctors, that's fine, no vaccinations," Kimmel said. "But you're not allowed to go to the doctor anymore.

"So if you fall and you cut your head open, you will not be admitted to the emergency room. Stay at home, find that sewing kit you stole from the Marriott. Stitch it up yourself, doc."

Kimmel then introduced a public service announcement featuring real doctors who scold people for not vaccinating their children. But in Kimmel fashion, the PSA draws laughs by the end when the doctors become so frustrated they begin cursing at the camera.

"Remember that time you got polio? No, you don't. Because your parents got you [bleep] vaccinated," one doctor says.
