Hillary Spokeswoman Against Her Running Again: 'It's All Broken'

Hillary Clinton's ex-campaign communications director says she would "do an ankle dive at the door" to keep the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee from running again.

At the Power Women Breakfast hosted by The Wrap on Thursday morning in Washington, D.C., former spokeswoman Jennifer Palmieri said Clinton ran in a system that proved "broken."

"If Hillary Clinton ran for office again, I would do an ankle dive at the door and not allow her to do it because I love her too much," Palmieri said.

Though supporters hoped Clinton would be the first woman president — and a candidate's gender did not matter — instead "She's going to be the woman who shows us that it's all broken," Palmieri said.

"We set out to prove that she could to the job the same way it has always been done," she said, possibly failing to realize that is not what voters wanted. "Which is the same way a man has done it."

She added the "vicious and irrational" hatred Clinton received proved the system is not set up for a woman president.

"We were jamming her into a suit that wasn't made for her, trying to prove she could do the job the same way as a man could do it," Palmieri said.

"Don't expect to please these people, you're never going to give them the right answer."
