Jenna Bush Hager on Monday recalled one of the most "beautiful" talks she had with her late grandfather, former President George H.W. Bush, where he spoke about how much he longed to be with his wife, former first lady Barbara Bush.
"This summer, there was one of the most profound, beautiful nights in my life – I was at my dinner table in Maine with my grandpa, and we had one [beautiful moment]," she recalled during the fourth hour of NBC's "Today."
"It was about my grandmother and how much he missed her . . . we talked, and it was with my cousin, Jebby and me and my grandfather and we cried and we held each other," Hager shared.
Later, she texted her parents, "Oh, my gosh, I just had the best conversation with Gampy about Ganny and how much he misses her, and we should all do this! And my dad was like, 'Write it down. Write down every moment.'"
George W. Bush died in November. He was 94.
Barbara Bush died in April of that year at the age of 92.
Bush Hager said everyone should do the same with their loved ones regardless of whether "you don't know if they are going to be here" longer or not.
