CNN boss Jeff Zucker says he's absolutely, positively staying at CNN — and he has no plans to jump to ESPN.
"I am staying at CNN," Zucker told staffers at a company town hall on Thursday.
CNN reporters at the meeting immediately began tweeting his remarks.
Last week, CNN reported that Zucker was on a short list of people being considered to replace John Skipper, who resigned from ESPN last month.
Prior to the town hall meeting, a CNN spokesman said: "Jeff loves his job at CNN and has no interest in running ESPN."
Zucker, who formerly was President and CEO of NBC Universal, has been with CNN since 2012. Both he and CNN have a rocky relationship with President Donald Trump, who has accused the network of bias and of pushing out "fake news."
