The number of foreign-born citizens will surge to 78 million by 2060, fueled by a furious pace of immigration into the United States,
Census Bureau figures show.
The Washington Examiner notes the current number of immigrants in the United States stands at 43 million; the Census Bureau projections would translate into an 81 percent increase.
The total population will be 416 million by 2016, a significant 30 percent growth increase, the Examiner also notes.
According to the anti-population growth group,
Negative Population Growth, the Census Bureau "anticipates that net international migration will account for nearly 1.5 million new Americans each year."
The group's president, Donald Mann, warns even with aging Baby Boomers, that means America will still add over 97 million people by 2060.
"The data is clear," he said. "Regardless of shifting demographics, the aging of the Baby Boomers, or the philosophical implications of our widening immigration policies, America’s population is growing — and it will continue to do so at an alarming rate in the decades ahead."
