Human Events, the longstanding conservative newspaper goliath, announced Wednesday that the Feb. 18 issue currently on newsstands will be its last, reports The Washington Examiner.
The conservative stalwart will now exist solely on the Internet where it receives 1 million visitors monthly.
“This was a difficult decision, and one we did not make lightly,” publisher Joe Guerriero told the Washington Examiner. “As everyone knows, the newspaper business is a very tough business. Contrast that with the explosive growth of digital media . . .”
“While the print publication will no longer exist, we are confident Human Events’ mission to defend and promote conservatism will continue through our popular websites,” he said.
The surprise decision will mean employee cuts, according to Guerriero.
Human Events is owned by Eagle Publishing.
