Of the 31 Democratic Representatives in districts where President Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election, just two voted against impeaching the president Wednesday night, reports The Hill.
Rep. Jeff Van Drew, D-N.J., who announced he will be leaving the party, and Rep. Collin Peterson, D-Minn., voted against both articles of impeachment — abuse of power and obstructing Congress.
Rep. Jared Golden, D-Maine, voted to impeach Trump for abuse of power, but not for obstruction of Congress.
Golden, a freshman lawmaker, broke with his party after getting slammed by state Republicans for his vote in favor of the impeachment inquiry against the president.
"This action crossed a clear red line, and in my view, there is no doubt this is an impeachable act," he wrote in a formal statement submitted to Congress on Tuesday in arguing Trump abused his power by pressuring Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to investigate Democratic presidential frontrunner Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, for corruption.
Presidential candidate Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, voted "present" on both impeachment resolutions.
Not one Republican broke rank in voting against impeachment.
Rep. Justin Amash, I-Mich., who this summer declared his independence from the Republican Party, voted "yea" on both articles.
