Just how outlandish has the 2016 presidential race become? So much so that Kevin Spacey thinks his Netflix series "House of Cards" just "doesn't go far enough."

Spacey, who plays the power-mad President Frank Underwood in the political thriller on the hit show says after a day's filming he'll wonder "have we gone too far ... have we crossed the Rubicon" of believability.

"Then I turn on the TV and watch the news ... then I think we haven't gone far enough," Spacey said at a promotional tour for Netflix in Paris, London's Guardian reports.

Asked to compare the manipulative politician he portrays to the antics in this year's race for the White House, Spacey quipped: "We just need to remember he's fictional character and that some of the candidates running appear to be fictional too."

He added some politicians tell him "House of Cards" is "closer to the truth" than some will admit.
