Hogan Gidley: Census Question Necessary, 'Logical'

(Fox News' "Outnumbered Overtime")

By    |   Monday, 08 July 2019 03:20 PM EDT

Americans have a right to know who is in the United States, and it is "fascinating" President Donald Trump is being questioned about his push for a citizenship question to be included in the 2020 census.

"It's fascinating to me, we're at a weird place in America where President Donald Trump is being asked why he wants this question included in the census and Democrats aren't being asked why they don't," Gidley told Fox News' "Outnumbered Overtime." "Everyone should want to know who's in this country, and this is nothing new. A version of this question has been on the census since the 1800s."

There are many questions in a census form, including how many people live in a home or if there is running water, so citizenship is a "logical" question to ask, he added.

Gidley also discussed the ongoing discussion about comments that ICE and the Department of Homeland Security are ready to proceed with a plan to roundup up to one million illegal immigrants.

Democrats, however, want to decriminalize illegal immigration said Gidley, and "that makes no sense whatsoever."

Meanwhile, Gidley also discussed the ongoing situation with Iran and its decision to break uranium production limits.

"The president doesn't like talking about redlines," said Gidley, "but he did make the point [Sunday] . . . he said Iran better be careful. He doesn't want to go to war with Iran. The fact is, their behavior has to change. They are the world's largest state sponsor of terrorism. We have sanctioned their oil, we have sanctioned their metals, we have sanctioned people who do business with them.

"Their economy is teetering on the verge of collapse. We've got to bring them to the table to have a conversation about getting rid of their nuclear program."
