Disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein emailed some movie studio, network and agency honchos begging for their help in saving his job, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
"If you could write this letter backing me, getting me the help and time away I need, and also stating your opposition to the board firing me, it would help me a lot," the email stated, according to THR, which reported it was sent as the board of The Weinstein Co. moved to fire him Sunday as its co-chairman.
"I am desperate for your help. Just give me the time to have therapy. Do not let me be fired. If the industry supports me, that is all I need."
Weinstein appeared to know he would be fired in the wake of The New York Times report alleging he would been repeatedly accused of sexually harassing young actresses over three decades, THR noted.
"We believe what the board is trying to do is not only wrong but might be illegal and would destroy the company,” Weinstein wrote in the email, THR reported.
Weinstein also reportedly tried to intimidate his staffers into not cooperating with an independent investigation of sexual harassment allegations against him — conduct that was among the reasons the board of directors moved to fire him Sunday.
