The three potential Republican presidential primary challengers are "three stooges," President Donald Trump tweeted Tuesday.

"Can you believe it? I'm at 94% approval in the Republican Party, and have Three Stooges running against me," Trump tweeted in reference to Joe Walsh, former Rep. Mark Sanford and former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld.

"One is Mr. 'Appalachian Trail' who was actually in Argentina for bad reasons," Trump said, referring to Sanford's extramarital affair.

"Another is a one-time BAD Congressman from Illinois who lost in his second term by a landslide, then failed in radio. The third is a man who couldn't stand up straight while receiving an award. I should be able to take them!" he added.

Walsh, a former congressman in Illinois who most recently was the host of a conservative talk radio show that no longer airs on Newsmax TV, and Weld have announced primary campaigns against Trump. Sanford said he is considering one.

Walsh on Monday said he lost his nationally syndicated show after announcing his intentions to run.

"I'm running for president," he said during an appearance on CNN. "I oppose this president. Most of my listeners support the president. It's not an easy thing to do to be in conservative talk radio and oppose this president. I knew that, John, when I made the announcement [Sunday], that it could be in jeopardy."
