White House reporter for The New York Times Glenn Thrush shut down his Twitter account Monday, saying that it was "too much of a distraction" in a farewell tweet to his 350,000 followers.

Thrush went to the Times from Politico in January, and also joined MSNBC as a contributor.

Thrush and fellow White House reporter Maggie Haberman have agreed to write a book about President Donald Trump.
