WASHINGTON — Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords praises her husband, former astronaut Mark Kelly, in her first extended interview since she was shot in January, calling him "brave, brave, brave" as she kisses his bald head.
Kelly, in turn, says "that's what I think of when I think of you, too." Their interview, airing Monday night on ABC, is Giffords' first lengthy interview since the Jan. 8 shooting rampage that killed six people and wounded 13 outside a Tucson grocery store.
A video clip the network released ahead of the interview shows a thin Giffords with a broad grin as she talks about Kelly.
The congresswoman still struggles for words, the result of a near-deadly gunshot to her brain. In the interview, she described the shooting and her ordeal as "difficult."
