Police: Gunman Opens Fire in Chapel of Georgia Megachurch

Wednesday, 24 October 2012 11:08 AM EDT

At least one person was shot Wednesday morning at the suburban Atlanta megachurch of pastor Creflo Dollar, a controversial pastor who was arrested this summer for striking his daughter with a shoe.

The shooting happened at a chapel and it is unclear if services were under way. Local stations are reporting that a church employee was killed in the shooting.

The World Changers church in College Park, Georgia has a morning service, but police said they did not know if the service was in progress at the time of the shooting.

The suburban Atlanta church claims about 30,000 members and this summer faced controversy when Dollar's 15-year-old daughter told police her father choked and punched her and hit her with his shoe. He was arrested and charged with simple battery and cruetly to children.
