Americans would support the piece-by-piece defunding of Obamacare if Republican lawmakers explained it to them in a clear and rational way, political commentator and Newsmax contributor John Fund says.
"If the Republicans basically say to the American people, we are going to fund all of government with one exception, Obamacare, which is going to destroy your healthcare, maybe take away your right to see the doctor you want, contrary to what the president promised … You can win that debate," Fund told "The Steve Malzberg Show" on Newsmax TV.

"If they just say this is about Obamacare and nothing else, all Obama has to do is sign the law. He gets all of the money he wants for all of his programs, except for Obamacare."
Those who have been in favor of trying to dismantle Obamacare by defunding portions of it have been frustrated at Republican lawmakers’ reluctance to do it.
Earlier this month, New Jersey Congressman Scott Garrett revealed to Malzberg that the GOP has abandoned their plans for defunding out of fear it could lead to a government shutdown.
"The idea is if you say you're not going to put x number of millions or billions of dollars in this bill or that bill, then what happens?” Garrett said.
"The president will say I'm going to veto the bill in which case the funding for all of those programs — or potentially the entire government — runs out. Then you come to the proverbial threat of a shutdown."
