The fact the media was so quick to call Virginia for Joe Biden, but it left Newsmax as a lone wolf to call Florida for President Donald Trump is a peculiar move by the mainstream media, according to GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis on Newsmax TV.
"Methinks there may be an agenda at play here," DeSantis told host John Bachman on Election Night special coverage.
DeSantis noted Virginia was called for Biden before vote counts were released; yet, a Trump lead in Florida left Newsmax TV as one of the few outlets to call the state for the incumbent.
DeSantis noted Miami-Dade was "important" for Trump, particularly with a strong ground game and message to Cuban-Americans and Latino voters wary of the Democratic-socialist agenda.
"He energized the Hispanic community," DeSantis said of Trump. "He was strong on Democracy in Latin American, and he was a jobs president."
Former President Barack Obama's campaign stump visits did not speak to the true values of South Florida voters, particularly on opening up the economy amid the global coronavirus pandemic, DeSantis said.
