Another Florida city has filed suit against a state law that bans municipalities from enacting local gun regulations.
Wilton Manors joins 13 other cities, including Coral Springs, Coconut Creek, and Pembroke Pines, to challenge the Sunshine State's prohibition, The Miami Herald reports.
The latest lawsuit disputes a 2011 state law prohibiting cities from adopting gun control laws violates the state and federal constitutions.
Under current state law, a municipality is prohibited from enacting local laws pertaining to gun control and local officials who defy it face a $5,000 personal fine and removal from office.
Florida is on the front line of states wrestling with various laws pertaining to firearms.
Last month, the wealthy island of Palm Beach, home of President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort, called on Florida state lawmakers to ban military-style assault weapons, like the one used to shoot dead 17 children and adults at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Feb. 14th.
