Busloads of students from the South Florida High School, where 17 people were shot and killed last week, will converge in Tallahassee to push for stronger gun laws, the SunSentinel is reporting.
The teenagers, who are also organizing a rally in Washington for March 24, will be traveling to the state capital early this week to meet with Attorney General Pam Bondi and high-ranking legislators, according to the newspaper.
About 100 students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School are expected to make the trip on Tuesday morning following the funeral of student Carmen Schentrup.
"We are saying as young adults, enough is enough and we are taking that message as far as possible," Emma Gonzalez, 18, a senior at Douglas, said at a rally on Saturday.
Seventeen people were shot and killed at the school last week. Police have identified the gunman as Nikolas Cruz, 19.
Democratic State Sen. Lauren Book has been helping set up meetings for the students when they arrive in Tallahassee, the Tallahassee Democrat reported.
She said she has been scheduling "meeting after meeting after meeting to ensure their voices truly are head at the highest levels."
