A Palm Bay, Florida, police officer claimed a McDonald's drive-thru denied him service because of his profession, according to a Florida Today report.
"I think they'll handle it appropriately," Lt. Tim Lancaster told Florida Today on Sunday. "I was shocked, that's a good word. I never thought I'd be at a point in my career when I'd see something like this."
The restaurant's general manager declined comment, referring questions to the corporate office, according to the report.
Lancaster announced the service denial on his Facebook account Friday afternoon, which has been shared over 5,552 times since.
Since the post, Lancaster and other officers have seen "overwhelming support," he told Florida Today.
"It's very humbling," Lancaster, a 23-year police veteran, said, per the report.
