Broward County Commissioner Michael Udine said Thursday the FBI needed "to do a better job" after investigators had been warned twice about the man charged with killing 17 people and wounding 14 others in the Florida school massacre.
"They need to do a better job," Undine, a former Parkland mayor whose district includes Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. "It's that simple.
"If they're getting warnings, they need to do a better job — because enough is enough."
According to news reports Thursday, a video blogger warned the FBI in September of a possible school shooting threat from a YouTube user with the same name as Nikolas Cruz, 19, who was charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder in Wednesday's attack.
FBI officials also disclosed that they had received another alleged threat of a school shooting from Cruz, but passed no information about either warning to local law enforcement.
"As a community, this is just an impossible thing to fathom," Udine told Baldwin. "And when you hear that there were warnings like that, they have to do a better job.
"That's their job."
