Dr. Anthony Fauci is calling the viral photo of a crowded hallway in a Georgia school "disturbing."

The comments by Fauci, a member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force, came Monday on ABC's "World News Tonight."

"There should be universal wearing of masks," said Fauci when asked about reopening schools. "There should be, to the extent possible, social distancing, avoiding crowds. Outdoors [is] always better than indoors and be in a situation where you continually have the capability of washing your hands and cleaning up with sanitizers."

Commenting on the photo of the crowded hallway, he said: “When I see sights like that, it is disturbing to me.”

ABC News noted the photo was captured by a sophomore at North Paulding High School in Dallas, Georgia. The network news said she was suspended within 24 hours after sharing the photo but had the punishment revoked days later.

Six students and three staffers at the school tested positive for COVID-19 days after photos of the crowded hallway went viral. The school announced it would shift to online classes for two days.
