Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg said in a Facebook post President Donald Trump's ban defies "the heart and values that define the best of our nation."

The COO of the social media giant joined many big names in criticizing Trump's ban, which temporarily bars citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries from entering the U.S for at least 90 days until the vetting program is reviewed. It also suspends the refugee program for four months, bans Syrian refugees, calls for new immigration screening procedures, and directs the secretary of Homeland Security to conduct a 30-day review to determine which countries fail to provide "adequate information" for its citizens to be issued visas to enter the United States.

Sandberg, in her post, talked about how her great-grandmother, Channa Bass, left Lithuania for America in 1889 to escape religious persecution.

"If Channa had not taken that difficult journey, I would not be here today – my family would almost certainly have perished in the concentration camps of World War II. Her courage – and the fact that this country welcomed her – created my family's future," she wrote.

Because of these orders, she said, "families have been separated. Frightened children have been detained in airports without their parents. People seeking refuge have been turned away and sent back to the danger they just managed to flee. This is not how it should be in America."
