Trump, O'Reilly Make Up After Digs at Each Other

By    |   Thursday, 29 January 2015 09:29 PM EST

Business mogul Donald Trump and Fox News host Bill O'Reilly were pals again after Trump appeared on Fox News Channel's "The O'Reilly Factor"  Thursday to discuss a recent dust-up.

In a promo for Tuesday's show, O'Reilly compared the possible presidential candidacies of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Trump to a reality show.

Palin voiced her displeasure at O'Reilly's comparison the same night on Fox News Channel's "Hannity."

"He says, 'Oh, what a reality show that would be, yuck, yuck,'" Palin said. "Well the left doesn't do that. They take this serious, because this is war."

On Wednesday, O'Reilly replayed Palin's comments, and said no offense was intended, so none should be taken. The promo was intended only to get attention, O'Reilly said, adding that both Palin and Trump have starred in reality TV shows.

Trump, meanwhile, took to Twitter, as he often does, to address slights against him.

Trump talked to O'Reilly by phone on Thursday's show, saying his beef with O'Reilly was that his promo used his and Palin's names to plug the show, but they were hardly discussed.

"They used deceptive advertising," Trump said.

O'Reilly pointed out that both Trump and Palin were discussed, as were several other GOP prospects.

Strengths and weaknesses were pointed out, and O'Reilly said Trump and Palin both were straight shooters and could liven things up. Their weaknesses were the challenges of setting up a national organization in time to run.

"But how do you know I'm not building it right now, Bill? How would you know that?" Trump asked.

"Now, look, I don't think you are going to run for president," O'Reilly said, but added "I like the fact that you are not afraid to say what's on your mind. I think we need that in a presidential race."

For his part, Trump admitted O'Reilly's show wasn't headed in the wrong direction, but said he never takes tweets back.

"Yeah, don't be a pinhead. Don't tweet," O'Reilly said. "You don't need to tweet. I mean, you know, your words are worth more than this cheap cyberspace."
